Bursa is a great place to visit as a day trip. Whilst Turkey's 4th largest city, Bursa provides a wonderful opportunity to experience a very traditional city rich in history as the first capital of the Ottoman empire. With some magnificent religious monuments, a strong history in silk trading, "home" to many foods including the "iskender kebab" there is a variety of things to see, learn and taste. The city which is also known as “Green Bursa” with its fresh air from the lush vegetation and the vast forests nearby.
Highlights of this trip
We will pick you up from your Istanbul city hotel between 7.30 and 8.00 am for the three hour drive to Bursa.
This day tour will take you to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire.
Also called ‘Yesil Bursa’ for its parks and gardens, it is the fourth largest city in Turkey today. It is known for its peaches, chestnuts and its silk industry. It is also home to the Iskender Kebab and to the very famous Turkish folklore figures, Karagöz and Hacivat shadow puppets as well as thermal baths. Bursa's renowned hot mineral waters have been popular since Byzantine and Roman times
On arrival in Bursa, we will visit the Muradiye, the Mausoleums of Osman and Orhan Bey, Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii), the Green Mosque, Koza Han (the silk bazaar), and the Covered Bazaar.
We will have lunch in one of the traditional restaurants in old town. (your chance to try Iskender Kebab if you haven't already).
We will depart at 5pm for our return to Istanbul returning you to your hotel about 8 pm, depending on traffic.
