Day 1 – Fairy Chimneys and Stunning Rock Formations
Early in the morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Kayseri. On arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel in Cappadocia to commence the day’s touring.
Today's tour includes some wonderful photo view points stops to take all those stunning photos of the beautiful landscape. We then head to Avanos, famous for pottery and the Red river, where you will learn about and watch a pottery demonstration. After lunch, you will visit Goreme open air museum, a vast complex containing some of the finest rock hewn churches and frescoes in the region. The last stop will be Uchisar castle, natural and one of the biggest mass fairy chimney's in the region.
Day 2 – Underground City, River Walk & Cave Cathedral
Your second day begins with a journey into the Derinkuyu Underground City, This complex is possibly one of the largest of its kind, with many floors still to be uncovered. Your guide will lead you through the narrow and low height passages to the many rooms within. We continue our journey to Ihlara Valley, for a peaceful one hour walk along the Melendiz River. This gorge is one of the most popular places to go hiking, famous for its natural beauty, vineyards and wildlife.There are around 400 steps down to the riverbed.
After stopping for lunch, we continue on to the spectacular Selime Monastery, the largest rock-cut monastery in the region. Returning to Göreme we finally stop at a viewpoint of Pigeon Valley for more scenic photos.
Day 3 – Cappadocia to Ephesus
Take a chance to enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a free morning, before we transfer you from your hotel to Kayseri. You will then fly to Izmir in the afternoon. From Izmir airport you will be transferred to Sirince, a small town known for its fruit wines where you will stay overnight.
Day 4 – Ephesus
We pick you up from your hotel in Sirince and take you to the Isa Bey Mosque, the starting point to learn about the history of this area. This will be followed by a guided tour of the ancient city of Ephesus. Your guide will provide information and stories to bring this ancient city alive. You will be stunned by the impressive facade of the Library of Celsus, and the size of the theatre. Afterwards we visit one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis to hear about its history, even though only a few columns remain. We have lunch at a local restaurant, and then continue to the shrine of the Virgin Mary, an extremely important pilgrimage site for Catholic's.
After the tour you will be transferred to Izmir airport for your flight back to Istanbul. You will be transferred to the hotel you have selected (not included in this tour price).
